Die on My Ride is a fitting title for Tengger Cavalry, who dish out plenty of their trademark mash-up of Mongolian folk music and classic metal. But they also explore new terrain. Packed with hefty power chords, “Cursed” trades Iron Maiden–inspired gallops for groove metal’s chugging muscle, while “To the Sky” is trance-inducing folk rock with throat singing that sounds like electronic sci-fi effects. The plaintive love ballad “Ashley” is outfitted with polished rock vocals and programmed percussion.
