Not the best Zauberflote, but still good

I like this recording. I enjoy the cast, I enjoy the meticulous playing of the Wiener Philharmoniker, but Solti seems to be rushing through the entire recording at a furious pace. The tempi are so hyperactive I think it takes away from the overall effect. The Karajan complete Zauberflote is 10 bucks more, but well worth it. If you can't shell out the extra 10 bucks get this one, it's a good second.

Amateur review

The soprano is exquisite: clear, strong, even, fearless, not-flowery singing. She is the reason I made the purchase.
