Album Review

New Politics are a trio from Denmark who relocated to Brooklyn before recording their self-titled debut album for RCA. The relocation process may have included some time travel, because listening to the album is like stepping back into the middle of the 1990s alt-rock scene. The members of the band have all clearly and fully absorbed the era, and their sound takes elements from the top bands of the time. The thunder of the Pixies, the mope rage of Nirvana, the political shout of Rage Against the Machine, and the swagger of the Red Hot Chili Peppers are a few of the components of New Politics' sound. Along with fleeting traces of post-'90s alt-rock (Strokes, Killers, Franz Ferdinand), the group adds an admirable dose of energy to the proceedings.

Instant Classic!

I knew this was gonna rock! Every song is great in its own way. Why wouldnt you buy this album? BTW Dignity is an amazing song!

One of a kind

Not many artist sounds like them.Their sounds are unique.Reminds me of Pistolas, with a mix of rap rock that sounds just right.Ive liked them since their SXSW debut.Im kinda dissapointed that some songs didnt make it to the album, but this album covers a wide spectrum of their music. And there's always next album to look forward to.Their strength is not just melody, but the lyrics are awesome too.Its a great debut album for New Politics.

I don't know what PBSrealty is smoking down there, but this is some of the best music I've ever heard. I've been waiting for this album since their single came out, and it was definitely worth the wait.

Rambunctious Danish indie rockers New Politics formed in the late 2000s around the talents of vocalist David Boyd, guitarist/vocalist/keyboard player Søren Hansen, and drummer Poul Amaliel. The band's high-energy, guitar-driven blend of punk, pop, and electronically induced dance-rock (Boyd specializes in wildly unpredictable stage posturing) eventually caught the ears (and eyes) of RCA, which signed the group in 2009. Fearing American anonymity, the band relocated to Brooklyn, New York, where they...
