iTunes Review

Bursting out of NYC (by way of Missouri) with this impressive debut, White Rabbits are carving a distinctive path with smart, sharp and catchy tunes generated by double guitars, double drums and some seriously soul-thumping piano. Ghosts of ska-beats past, such as the Specials and Fun Boy Three, permeate this set, but in a subtle way, ushering tunes like “Kid on My Shoulders” and the cinematic “March of the Camels” along on twisting percussion, shuffling pianos and eerie vocals.  Tracks like “The Plot” and “While We Go Dancing” deliver a fresh take on high-energy indie rock, creating memorable hooks and drama with peppery backbeats, roiling pianos, and strong dual vocals by Greg Roberts and Steve Patterson. Spicy Latin percussion in “I Used to Complain Now I Don’t” and “Tourist Trap” meet up with tropical flavors — shakers, congas and ska guitars —  on “Navy Wives” and “Dinner Party,” but you’ll want to tango to “Take a Walk Around the Table.” Did we say “indie rock?” These Midwestern college boys have more flavors than Ben & Jerry’s, and it’s a revelation to discover them all in one place.

Not in a long time can I remember an album that so acurately executes mood and imagery. Can't stop listening. Highly recommended!

It taste like ENERGY

This album will help me run an extra mile ot two! They're racey!

One of the best from 2007!!!

I came upon this amazing cd only because of its great art cover. So my expectations were fairly low. This band is simply original and incredible. Its music is fantastic and my favorite part of the band is the fact that i dont have to skip any tracks. This is the kind of album you listen from start to finish because the order of the songs is what makes it so good. Every song depends on the other for the mood setting. The other 2 albums i really liked in 2007 were in rainbows by radiohead and neon bible by arcade fire. Fort nightly i rank number 3 of 2007, and that aint bad at all. I hope their next adventure is as pleasant as this one was. Best songs are kid on my shoulder, the modest mouse alike the plot, my favorite dinner paty and tourist trap. Peace.

At first, it's easy to mistake the White Rabbits for just another set of New York City dance-rock hipsters in the Clap Your Hands Say Yeah tradition, but a second look reveals a quirkier and more rewarding aesthetic. A sextet featuring two drummers and a piano player, the White Rabbits refer to their music as "honky tonk calypso," and their cheerful blend of calypso, reggae and ska rhythms, plus secondhand music hall influences and big pop hooks, strongly recalls vintage Madness circa "Our House"...
