Album Review

When one thinks of groups comprised of four guitarists, it is of competitive situations where electric guitarists attempt to top each other with speed and volume. The Los Angeles Guitar Quartet is quite different for this band, comprised of four lesser-known but talented players, features acoustic guitarists who interact closely with each other and often seem to think as one. The music on their set is comprised of recent originals by group members and friends that is tightly arranged while leaving some room for improvisations. The results often hint strongly at bluegrass, Irish and Scottish music (cuts four through six are subtitled "Celtic Fare"), Latin folk songs, new age, classical, and even jazz while being quite original. This recording grows in interest with each listen.

Great Album

My father gave me this album and it was one of the best gifts I ever got. The freedom of the melodies, especially in Lotus Eaters and Daya's Spin are fantastic. This is the music I use to drive to in a convertible. Top down, open terrain and glorious music.

one of their best....

If you know LAGQ then this album will not let you down. Very few professional guitar quartets generate the work that LAGQ produces. True musical geniuses. The only flaw I see in this and many of their albums is the quality of the recording. There is a hit of environmental distortion that probably is generated by the 'live' performance of the recording, otherwise an excellent disc.

Lotus eaters

Andrew york came and visited loudoun county last year and played a concert that was phenominal.
