Also known as Dudley Perkins, Declaime is one of current hip-hop's most original voices. After debuting in the mid-'90s on Tha Alkaholiks' Coast II Coast, he's been going nonstop ever since, collaborating with Stones Throw brethren like Lootpack, Oh No, and Madlib and putting out a grip of solo material, including much-loved albums like Andsoitissaid, A Lil Light, and FONK. On Self Study, he again collaborates with frequent producer/life partner Georgia Anne Muldrow for 17 tracks of one-of-a-kind music that's simultaneously funky, spacy, spiritual, and bugged out. Kindred minds Kev Brown, Prince Po (of Organized Konfusion), MED, and LMNO add extra flavor to the mix, and while this may be too out there for the radio, it's still a compelling and entertaining listen, especially for listeners bored with the same ol' same ol'. Check out "Ship's Doctor," "East Meets West," "Tribal Warfare," and "Movin."

Originally affiliated with the Likwit Crew, Declaime debuted on tha Alkaholiks' second album, Coast II Coast, and also appeared on Lootpack's Soundpieces before releasing his own solo work.
