Customer Reviews

Highly recommended, strange kind of pop

This “maximum stars” review is posted on behalf of friend who wishes to remain anonymous. I agree with the review. And, I love the listening experience this CD offers from beginning to end, track after track.

"Wow! This recording is far stranger than could imagine from the titles. Toy pianos, spinning organs, electric guitars, accordions, scrutinizing poems and a big bass drum.

It begins and ends with an eerie melody that acts like an old Romanian fugue but clothed in a vaudevillian dress. The second track, “A Fool Aloof A…” comes in with a spoken voice over music that is somewhat reminiscent of the “Dirty Projectors” style of altered strangeness. Sort of, kind of, pop. But . . . far too strange to fall into any pre-conceived slot.

Track four, “Blue Verse”, invokes the lurings of Kurt Weill which is taken even further in “Native Tongue” with its spiraling circus poetry approach.

And the journey goes and on and on. Highly recommended if you lean towards to path less trod."
