THE Definitive Album Of The 80's - Deserves 50 Stars!!!!!

While the rest of the music industry were busy churning out the usual 3-minute disposable dance pop/hip-hop/glam rock, Robert Smith reached into his tortured soul and found his epic masterpiece. Painstakingly applying layer after cohesive layer of lush keyboards, swirling guitars, whisper-to-a-scream vocals and still more keyboards, "Disintegration" redefined the term "Wall Of Sound". When the band bursts through the wind chimes at the beginning of the opening "Plainsong", you can practically feel the kaleidescope of light washing over you. Thus begins the 70+ minute journey over The Cure's most beautiful mountaintop. Throughout the album, the band adeptly jumps from moments when they peek through the clouds with something simple and heartfelt ("Pictures Of You", "Lovesong", "Untitled") to displaying that "beautiful" and "aggressive" are not mutually exclusive terms ("Fascination Street", "Disintegration"). Of course, it wouldn't be The Cure without a dash of the truly creepy (Is it just me, or is there something really sinister going on in the lyrics of "Lullaby"?)...all the while maintaining the common thread of "make everything sound huge" from beginning to end.
Never mind Thriller, Document, Born In The USA and all the rest...This is THE album of the 1980's.

Rivals The Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" as being the grooviest record ever.

I don't even know where to begin, as I am sure few of us lowly music fans do. After being a fan of this rock and roll group for a long time, I came to the understanding long before it was declared on South Park: "Distintegration is the best album ever." I cannot even begin to describe the understatement contained within that line. This whole "Deluxe Edition" is long overdue. I consider this album very stiff competetion for "Dark Side of the Moon", and when push comes to shove, I can't decide which one I like more. There. I Said it. Blasphemous as it may be, I believe that both records occupy the same space, their own space, in the celestial plane that can only be labeled as THE BEST MUSIC AROUND.

One Decade...into another

Disintegation was the ablum that bridged two decades. The recording took many on a journey of the late '89 straight into the early 90's. This album was so powerful that it still stirs many emotions. Turn off the lights, light a candle, and listen.
