EDITORS’ NOTES

The Italian composer Ludovico Einaudi doesn’t just have a gift for thematic material; he’s also adept at keeping his approaches fresh from album to album. Here, in addition to his expected, minimalist-influenced melodic approach, he shows the strength of his arranger’s hand. The surprising, syncopated electronic elements (on “Uno”), occasional string orchestrations (on the title cut), and introspective chamber pieces (“Andare”) prove that Einaudi is a true original when it comes to blending classical crossover, ambient composition, and American minimalist practice.

Great Style

Ludovico's style is in sharp contrast to ordinary piano music. This album is in good company with Brian Crain's "Piano Opus" and Dustin O'Halloran's "Piano Solos Vol. 2". These three albums are a breath of fresh air in piano music. It's not how many notes you can play, it's which notes are played.

A Masterpiece of Art & Emotion

I have always been awed by the intricate delicacy and genius of classical music. Never, though, has one piece caused such a heartfelt reaction. I am not usually one to be swayed by a single song, but the moment I listened to this "Discovery Download," I was sold on the whole album. I wasn't disappointed at all, either. Every movement of every song creates a different setting and begins a new emotion. Einaudi is the first composer to have ever captured my heart so deeply by music unaccompanied by vocals. It may be classical, but it's certainly a contemporary revolution of this genre as well. I visited Barnes & Noble, Borders, and other multimedia stores in hopes of buying the tangible album, but none of them had this obscure import in stock. I love iTunes, not only because I can always count on what I want being available to me, but also because of the incredible price. If you buy Divenire through Apple, it will cost you half of what you'll find anywhere else. Get it and love it for a lifetime :)

Favorites are Divenire, Primavera, Fly, Oltremare, and obviously Andare! I am sure I'll be back soon to purchase the complete Einaudi.

Epic and Breathtaking

Beautiful sweeping melodies for contemplative thought. Excellent for reading or relaxing. There is a range of emotion to these songs that will entice, excite and perhaps, even bring you to tears.
