Gorgeous Harp Playing

Erica Goodman is one of the finest harpists in the world today. A champion of Canadian music, the Barnes on this album is scintillating. Tournier was a great French harpist whose music is well-known in harp circles; but isn't likely something you've heard unless you're a harp player or know one. Lovely impressionistic music. The Ravel is well-known, but this version by Goodman and the Amadeus is remarkable for its clarity. Some may prefer a "gauzier" approach; but I love this one with a small ensemble. The last work is a classical revelation: a beautiful, Haydnesque chamber piece by ETA Hoffmann, better known as the great German author ("The Nutcracker and the Mouseking"). A wonderful recording compliments the beautiful playing.
