Solid from top to bottom

I have no idea what this guy is talking about using words like "speed metal" and "head-slamming"? Avail is a punk/hardcore band that blends friends, anger, honesty, family, folk & relationships with heavier yet catchy riffs and hooks...certainly not "speed metal". All of it is driven by Tim Barry's powerful vocals. This is one of their best. A true, gritty, blue collar punk rock album. If you never saw them live then you really missed a wonderful show. Anthems for a generation

As I get older and a little bit wiser I still feel that this album speaks for me although in a different way. Before it was about a way of life and a certain mindset. Now approaching 40, I think that 'Dixie' shows me how time has smoothed over some of the brashness and how much this grouping of songs really shaped me as an adult. This album still cuts through the fog and hash of the daily slog through life like a straight razor. Visceral and thoughtful at the same time, many people could take a lot from the words and be better off.

This record was my anthem in high school and continues to be my anthem now. Get this album first. Austin, TX misses you guys.

Formed: 1988 in Reston, VA

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '00s

The group originally released their debut, Satiate, on their own Catheter Assembly Records in 1992, but the album was re-released two years later by Lookout!...
