iTunes Review

Following its 2009 reunion, it took Blink 182 a few years to deliver Neighborhoods. So the fact that the 2012 five-song EP Dogs Eating Dogs took less than two months to record and release is a great sign. The opening “When I Was Young” builds anticipation with a 40-second intro of ambient electronica before the band's propulsive punk-pop is warmed up and running. The song reminds us of Tom DeLonge’s strength in contrasting sunny, catchy melodies with downtrodden lyrics—the ones here muse on what a drag it is getting old. Fans of Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus’ post–Blink 182 band +44 will find trace elements of that group's “Lycanthrope” in the title track (though some parts of the chorus sound somewhat influenced by Alkaline Trio). Similarly, “Disaster” contains leftover DNA from DeLonge’s post–Blink 182 project Angels & Airwaves. This is first noticeable in the opening analog tones, which sound like manipulated radio frequencies bleeding into pulsing rhythms; they suddenly morph into Blink 182's unmistakably punchy guitar pop.

A Brand New Chapter

Dogs Eating Dogs is an amazing culmination of the individual sound that Mark, Tom, and Travis developed during the band's hiatus. They sound more whole then they did in Neighborhoods, the idea to record it together in the studio was a wise choice. With Tom's melodic lyrics, Mark's chilling tone, and Travis' insane drumming this album does not disspoint.

It is a very catchy, EP. These 5 songs are some of blinks finest work in a very long time. There is still hope for blink 183 everyone. A true fan will love this.

Not old blink

This sounds nothing like old blink. If you think it does you need to go back and re listen to Buddha, Cheshire Cat and the live Mark, Tom and Travis show. Good try tho. But this is a fail in my dick and fart jokes that they built them selves from.

California trio blink-182 were the most popular band to emerge from the post-Green Day mainstream explosion of pop-punk. At a time when competition with teen pop and nu-metal were not unheard of, blink-182 released a steady stream of hits, bolstered by humorous, tongue-in-cheek music videos that were popular in the waning days of MTV's musical programming. The band formed in the suburbs of San Diego, California around guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge, bassist/vocalist Mark Hoppus, and drummer Scott...
