iTunes Editors’ Notes

There’s probably no better way to journey into this band's history than with this powerful hits-and-more collection. It draws from Boston's four major albums (all released before 1997), blending FM-radio standard-bearer anthems (“More Than a Feeling,” “Smokin’,” “Don’t Look Back”) with riff-and-feedback sexual metaphors (the radio-ubiquitous “Foreplay/Longtime”) and ascending power-balladry (“Amanda,” “Hitch a Ride,” “Let Me Take You Home Tonight”). There are also stellar non-album tunes (“The Star-Spangled Banner,” “Higher Power," and “Tell Me”) that go lengths to cement Boston’s time-honored musical legacy.

Customer Reviews

one of the best greatest hits albums ever.

Although i might only be 17, I love Boston. They are like my second favorite band ever (above Metallica). I love this greatest hits album... it has all their classics from their only 4 albums. The couple of newer songs exclusive to this (Higher Power, Star Spangled Banner, etc.) are all awesome in their own regard. Honestly, "Higher Power" is the best new song on here, as it combines both classic and modern sounds, emminating from the opening heavy guitar riff. Besides that, this is must have for any Boston Fan!

Boston is unique

What a fabulous creation was the band Boston, and their totally unique sounding Rock & Roll music. Every kid of the mid 1970’s owned a minimum of one Boston albums, they were cassette tapes often, but if you could afford them & L.P. was optimal because with a Teac cassette deck a knowledgable person would cut their own cassette tape’s that sounded infinitely better than the store bought junk..
*
The Boston sound was difficult for the band to reproduce on the road, they were the first really high tech band, making use of computer-synthesizers that took up tremendous space, I am sure all of you can imagine the enormity of the electronics that it took to produce that thrashing guitar sound in a studio that designed just for Boston! So, unfortunately their live shows generally were not the excellent sonic acid trip that their studio albums were, but I paid the freight attending 3 shows in the 1970’s.. Boston!
