Masterful

I have been a Simple Minds fan since 1982 (New Gold Dream) and apart from one or two releases, have enjoyed everything. But I am generally not a fan of re-treads (like Acoustic versions of old songs) BUT .. this album is a masterpiece. Jim Kerr's vocals and Charlie Burchill's guitar work is about the best I've heard. The songs are new and fresh and have a real sense of urgency and beauty to them. Promised You a Miracle with KT Tunstall is an absolute standout. The American and Chelsea Girl, early early songs, could have been written and released today. Long Black Train is magnificent. I do not think there is a weak song in the collection. I've gone back and listened to the originals and this is one time (truly) when I'd have to say I prefer the new renditions. (And as a special bonus, I didn't realize Big Music had come out in 2014, so I bought that as well .. another great great SM album.)

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE SIMPLE MINDS!!!!

Probably the most underrated group on the planet. If they had the U2 marketing machine they would have been twice as big as them. The only grup creating consitently good and unique music throuough the decades. Another great Album of classics with a new twist. Usualy Acoustic versions are quite boring but these are great as they blen in varius layers iof gutiar so the song is faithful to the orginal only with a differnet sound. PELASE KEEP MAKING MORE MUSIC!!!

This is how you make classics timeless

Awesome!! I particularly have grown very fond of 'Glittering Prize', amazing how well this song has lent itself to the acoustic treatment. The talent displayed in this album is astounding... If you ever liked anything Simple Minds has done, this is a must have album.
