iTunes Review

Monster Magnet's allegiance to Black Sabbath, Hawkwind, and Iggy & The Stooges has always guaranteed its albums will be packed with strong, guiding riffs and a sense of fun lurking under heavy rhythms. Leader Dave Wyndorf is a battle-tested veteran who knows this music inside and out. He applies this knowledge with an even hand, writing true anthems with the flashback power of the title track, "Negasonic Teenage Warhead," and the scorched-earth theatrics of "Ego, the Living Planet." The band's jump to a major label, starting with the previous Superjudge release, never dissipated its power and in fact improved its impact. The bigger budgets removed the grungy lo-fi recording and replaced it with a massive attack that was truer to the band's live sound. "Blow 'Em Off" adds acoustic guitars and strings. "Look to Your Orb for the Warning" coasts on Mellotron. "Third Alternative" furthers the band's interest in space rock, with a sound that evokes interplanetary communication alongside its grinding Sabbath-like doom.

Customer Reviews

All hail Dave Wyndorf the true bull god !!!

What else is there to say. This album truly ROCKS. I used to torture the old lady next door with this in my first apartment. Every song rocks. It's a great jam album. I actually played this cd everyday for about 2 years straight, it's just that good. If you love that slow HEAVY jam, you gotta get this.

One of the best. Ever.

Not only is this Monster Magnet's finest album but, in my oh so humble, yet expert opinion; Dopes To Infinity is one of the 10 best rock CDs ever. Without question. From start to finish this album rocks with a ferocity and intensity that is rarely seen in music, let alone in rock. Listen and enjoy for yourselves. You will not be disapponted.

I TALK TO PLANETS BABY

This is one of the BEST ROCK albums of all time...Monster Magnet Rocks my friends!!

Retro-rock visionaries Monster Magnet spent much of the 1990s struggling against the prejudices imposed upon image and sound by alternative rock fashion nazis. In fact, it wasn't until that movement's late-'90s decline that the band's dogged persistence finally paid off and their fourth album, Powertrip, catapulted to gold sales status on the strength of its massive hard rock hit "Space Lord." In the meantime, Monster Magnet had managed to become one of the most successful and influential bands associated...
