T for life!!!!!!

God these guys are frikin amazing...i listened to this song and couldn't imagine how great the new album is goin to be. i give this song a five cause it has one of the smoothest choruses and hardcore breakdowns i have ever heard...not the solo in into the mouth of....,but still the song is by far excellent. I'm glad trivium has shifted from screamo metal and thrash metal and combined the two to create their own sound and genre of music. These guys are going to live long enough to be awarded as metal gods. they keep surprising me w/ the best guitar licks/riffs/solos, hardcore drums, and a great thrash/screamo voice. Matt Heafy is the most talented musician ever, being an excellent guitarist and a great lead vocals singer. Damn right that there new album is gonna rock like hell.

Exceeds expectation

Normally I dont give 5 star reviews. I don't believe that many songs, albums and artists deserve a perfect rating. 5 means it is perfect. I would probably give this a 4 star, but i will just throw the extra star in there because it is such an improvment over the Crusade. Trivium finally has come onto a sound of its own. They can no longer be called just a generic metalcore band (Acsendency) or a Metallica rippoff (the crusade). They have evolved and have made their best music to date. You can tell the depth and time that was put into this album. It has a good mix of thrash, metalcore, hardcore and straight up hard rock. It is precise and more complex than most other bands out there. It isn't THE heaviest, but it is a good mix. Straight up hard rock. Their other two songs are similar in that regard as well. I expect alot out of Shogun. It should be one of the top metal albums of the year.

Oldschool Trivium Metal

Admittedly, I'm a stickler for the nostalgic. I like bands for their early music, when they were raw, unmixed, and not suffering from the fame-induced egos. I've seen so many bands make it big, only to change their style so much upon making it big that I can't even recognize them anymore (Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold, Deftones, etc.). I loved the screaming angry vocals and pounding thrash music from Ember to Inferno and Ascendancy, but upon their release of the Crusade, they seemed to tone it down and start more of a melodic sound with singing vocals. I was a bit upset, but the musical talent held strong and made it listenable. After seeing some behind the scenes videos of the making of Shogun, my faith is restored that Trivium hasen't taken the softer watered down approach to making metal. They admit the Crusade didn't rock you right in the face, and they wanted to get back to that, and with the release of their new single from Shogun, they seem to be back on that track. Real guys making real metal, playing every note you hear, not relying on ProTools to make a song from 300 riffs they couldnt play again the same way, which makes the live shows that much better. Thanks Trivium, for restoring my faith that there are still bands out there that still know what it is to be metal.

Hailing from central Florida, Trivium formed in 2000 and quickly built a buzz around Orlando's metal community with their blend of metalcore, thrash, and progressive metal. Having secured a contract with the German imprint Lifeforce, the band issued its debut album, Ember to Inferno, in October 2003 with a lineup that included vocalist/guitarist Matt Heafy, drummer Travis Smith, and bassist Brent Young. The debut was well-received, and Trivium signed with Roadrunner Records for their next effort....
