Album Review

Men at Work's records were always somewhat uneven affairs. Certainly, the singles were the highlights, but they had a handful of first-rate album tracks that made the records necessary for dedicated fans, even if the overall album was inconsistent. Contraband: The Best of Men at Work does a terrific job of consolidating all of their highlights onto one disc. From hits like "Who Can It Be Now?," "Down Under," "Overkill," and "It's a Mistake" to slightly neglected album tracks like "Be Good Johnny," Contraband has every great track from the Australian new wave band. For most fans, it will be the only disc they need.

Good song selection

I think most fans would rather buy the first two albums (if they were available on iTunes) but this comp has really good song selection (only Still Life shouldn't have made the cut). All the hits are here and some of the best album cuts ("Down by the Sea" "Upstairs in my House"). Rediscover Men at Work!

What took you so long?

OK, so it's not rap, it's not "explicit"...but darn, it's good fun! Can't believe it took all these years to get these guys on I-Tunes esp. since these guys aren't dead and have continued to play live in the States for years to appreciative audiences. Now that they are here, don't overlook the songs "OVERKILL" and "ITS A MISTAKE" - not the best known, but great sleepers and very representative of the times when they were released.

Finally!! Men at Work on i-tunes

Too bad the whole library isn't on here. Love Colin's voice. Been Jonesing for this for years, especially after my cassette wore out back in '89. You may have to ask your parents what a cassette is.

Men at Work were one of the more surprising success stories of the new wave era, rocketing out of Australia in 1982 to become the most successful artist of the year. With its Police-styled rhythms, catchy guitar hooks, wailing saxophones, and off-kilter sense of humor, the band's debut album, Business as Usual, became an international blockbuster, breaking the American record for the most weeks a debut spent at the top of the charts. Their funny, irreverent videos became MTV favorites, helping send...
