Album Review

With the level of humor on par with Wally Pleasant and Adam Sandler, Stephen Lynch's second album touches on the finer side of mixing juvenile humor, sexual entendre and acoustic singer/songwriting and presenting in a rather comedic light. Recorded predominantly live is a definite plus, as the audience response gives the album a fuller dimension than if it was straight to tape. However, this is not an album for those with a weak constitution, as vulgarity is the norm rather than the exception. That said, it's perfect for college campuses nationwide.

If I could be a superhero...

I would be... Stephen Lynch! He's a hero to the comedy world, and to his legions of fans. His first live album, Superhero just rocks over and over. Many of these songs were the basis for his show featured on the "Live at the El Rey" DVD, but you aren't missing much without the pictures (except for Stephen's rather graphic tonguing of a microphone during "Priest"...) Stephen is an equal opportunity offender... gynecology, priests, cab drivers, dying grandfathers, menstruation, Tourette's Syndrome... EVERYTHING is fair game, and he delivers on every song. Well, almost every song... gotta give him a pass on the Bowling Song (sorry, Stephen.) Beyond that, coupled with A Little Bit Special and The Craig Machine, you've got a trilogy of comedic genius. Here's hoping that The Wedding Singer closes on Broadway real soon... so we can get another comedy album and tour out of Lynch!

This Guy is Amazing

Stephen Lynch never stops, does he? All the songs on this cd are great- it's got everything from Immigration Dude to the taxi driver. Who could forget the Almighty Malachi, Bowling God? And, of course, there's D and D, the story of the Dungeons and Dragons master. Truly a must buy for anyone who loves a great funny cd

How is he not as famous as Dane Cook?

Stephen Lynch is underrated and in my opinion one of the great comics of our time and it is too bad that he is not in the mainstream with Dane Cook, Sandler, Blue Collar and Chris Rock. This is by far Lynch's best album. Everytime I hear Superhero I laugh. Almighty Malachi Professional Bowling God is great despite what he says and mmy favorite Talk To Me still doubles me over in laughter. I highly reccomend this album to anyone who likes to laugh.

Singer/songwriter and comedian Stephen Lynch has an uncanny wit and a mysterious comical side to him, and his performance resumé includes shared gigs with Jeff Foxworthy, Bobcat Goldthwait, Anthony Clark, and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. In summer 2000, he appeared in his own debut television special on Comedy Central. The guitarist also released his debut album A Little Bit Special, a 22-track look into Lynch's silly and ironic sense of humor, in September 2000. Two years later, Lynch issued a collection...
