EDITORS’ NOTES

Nearing 80, West Coast jazz mystic Charles Lloyd is as renowned for his burnished, highly individual tenor sax sound as he is for the stellar groups he’s led since the ’60s. His New Quartet with pianist Jason Moran, bassist Reuben Rogers, and drummer Eric Harland marks 10 years as a unit with Passin’ Thru, featuring new versions of vintage Lloyd (“Dream Weaver,” “Passin’ Thru”) that groove and swing explosively yet remain spacious, exploratory, and free.

As always Charles is brilliant!

JC MACBOOK PRO 1,

What an absolute pleasure to be able to hear a master like Charles Lloyd through the longevity of a career steeped in spirit music. He is never without a story to tell or a song to sing. He's a musical shaman and he continues to open the universe with his sublime tone and his open mind. I believe every note he plays...Thank you Charles Lloyd for being a beacon of truth and light.
