iTunes Review

Heart’s Ann and Nancy Wilson reach back three decades to recreate their debut release Dreamboat Annie on this 2007 concert recording. Time has been kind to this landmark ‘70s album — its ballads haven’t lost their air of enchantment and its rockers still deliver a hellacious punch. Ann’s still-compelling vocals savor the sexy nuances in “Magic Man” and find the tender spots within a string-draped “How Deep It Goes.” Her lusty, rough-edged take on “White Lightning Wine” is a special treat. Nancy’s electric and acoustic guitar work is supple and assured, supported ably by guitarist Craig Bartock and drummer Ben Smith. The performance wraps up with a delicate-to-dramatic rendition of “Mistral Wind” (from Dog & Butterfly), followed by a set of well-chosen cover tunes, including classics by Led Zeppelin (“Black Dog”) and the Who (“Love, Reign O’er Me”). More than a mere voyage into nostalgia, Dreamboat Annie Live is a reaffirmation of the passion that launched Heart all those years ago — and keeps them sailing on today.

Dreamboat Annie Live

Ann Wilson is the greatest rock and roll singer in history. Her voice is better than ever. Nancy sizzles on guitar. Also enjoyed The Who and Led Z covers. Also really like Ann's solo CD, Hope and Glory.

Rock on Ann and Nancy!

I've loved Heart since I first heard the original Dreamboat Annie years ago! If anything they sound better now than they did then. The energy on their live albums is great. I like their covers of other groups too. Another great effort from the ladies from the Pacific Northwest!

I was lucky enough to have been in the audience the night that this album was recorded. What a treat it was to see Heart perform their debut album, Dreamboat Annie, live in concet, track for track, from side 1 to side 2 (remember records?) The production of these songs are as perfect as they were the night I stood (as sat alittle) in the audience. Hearing, track for track, each song performed 30+ years after the album was released was sureal, but at the same time, taking me back to when I was 14 years old, sitting in my orange bedroom, dreaming a dream like "Dreamboat Annie." Sometimes, you never can go home. You can go home to Dreamboat Annie Live. Each song plus the ecore are a treat, and then some!

Sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson are the creative spark behind Heart, a hard rock group who initially found success in the mid-'70s only to reach greater heights after engineering a major comeback a decade later. The daughters of a Marine Corps captain, Ann (born June 19, 1950) and Nancy (born March 16, 1954) grew up in both Southern California and Taiwan before the Wilson family settled in Seattle, Washington. Throughout their formative years, both were interested in folk and pop music; while Ann never...
