Album Review

There's plenty of space in the established Top 40 to make room for the positive energy of Tal & Acacia's quirky pop artistry. The sister act's Feist-meets-Duff-meets-Norah Jones vibe has a natural gusto and glamour that breathes life into contemporary messages of spirituality. The duo's impressive songwriting chops and entrancing harmonies are like radio-ready Imogen Heap in stereo. Were they voicing the typical suggestive phrases of their contemporaries — say, Lady Gaga or Katie Perry — they would be considered seductive, for their voices are undoubtedly captivating. Instead, however, they wear their beliefs on their sleeve and come across as endearing and memorable, not sensual. Thanks to that track's download popularity and the placement of "Drifting Away" on an episode of Private Practice in the fall of 2009, the album shot up the digital charts, landing on digital charts' Top 100 albums and Top Five Christian albums. Don't dismiss the pair as simple-headed twenty-something's until you've heard their mature take on life, particularly when they address the glitter of modern society.

Girls I have loved your music!!!!!!

My name is Shelby and I have had your cd for months now! See my little sister is best friend with your producer guy (or I think that's what he is). She met you both her name was Mackenzie and you told her you liked her "bob" hair cut! I have been so jealous of her because you two are basically my inspiration! Your producer guy gave my sister a copy of the cd! I listen to it all the time and it is the top played stuff on my iPod! I just thought I should let you two know because I think your voices are absolutely beautiful! Congratulations on the cd I know you'll go very far that's why I rated it 5\5! your music is the best!

Something New!

This album is incredible! I was browsing for some Christian Alternative music, and happened upon these girls and their discovery download. what a pleasant surprise! these days Christian music seems all the same to me; almost unoriginal. this was a fresh breath of air. the girls have amazing, wispy soulful voices, the music is beautiful, and the lyrics are creative and uplifting.

Clearview ~ 8/10 This was the song that got them discovered by iTunesers. very happy song, the lyrics are a cry to God to grant them a clear view. not my favorite, but it's still great.
Top Priority ~ 9/10 Very clever lyrics. The background piano gives it a little something extra. This is a fun to listen to on a lazy Saturday or while cruisin' on the highway.
Garbage In ~ 10/10 This is possibly my favorite. The drumbeats are head-boppin and the melody is well-crafted. this song talks about how if you allow bad things into this life it will come out someday. "garbage in/garbage out/what goes in/is found out/I can see/I pay the price."
Yahweh ~ 10/10 A beautiful song of praise. it lists the various names of God and praises Him for all that He's done.
Wake Me (Noah's Song) ~ 9/10 the girls sing about how God is doing things that they can't see, and asking Him to show them while violins, chimes, and funky drums play in the background. a soul-touching song that strikes the right notes at just the right places.
Merry Go Round ~ 10/10 a cute, upbeat song about the whirls and busyness of life. little merry-go-round-like chimes drift in and out of the song.
Swing Song ~ 8.5/10 not one of my personal favorites, but still a great song. the melody is a little out there in some places. lots of soft harmonies and happy xylophone tinks to go along with the beat. I'm not really sure what this one is about.
Drifting Away ~ 8/10 a very mellow, soft song about drifting away from God.
Walkin' Your Dog ~ 10/10 again, one of my favorites! in this song, they tell a guy that they won't let him take advantage. "you won't hear me out anymore".
Love's Gonna Getcha ~ 12/10 can you tell this is my absolute favorite? :P this song is gorgeous and sweet. Acacia and Tal cry out to the lost person who's living a life of misery. "Love's gonna getcha/ Love's gonna catch up to you/ you're running fast/ but it won't last/ Love's got a spectrum/ every color under heaven it's true/ right down to you."
Warrior Child ~ 10/10 a very sweet song. the girls sing from the viewpoint of God looking down His "warrior child", the miserable sinner who's fighting all kinds of hardships.

all in all, this is an amazing album! the girls are great and I can't wait to hear more. (:

WE need more Christian artists like this!
