Remembering the days

When I was young, I was filled with teenage angst and listened to Nirvana, Stabbing Westward and the like. My dad always listened to smoother, more country sounds: Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, and Eddie Rabbit. The twangy rhythms and smooth vocals found here are relaxing and purposeful all at once. This short list of songs brings back nostalgic memories of driving through the northern woods with my dad, and I now appreciate all those road trips, and me being forced to expand my horizons.


I always sing this one liner to my kids when it's raining outside, so I decided to buy it. It's amazing how music brings a rush of memories... I remember sitting in the back of my parents' orange Cadillac while this song played and my mom sang in harmony along with it.
