iTunes Review

Scottish postpunks Josef K made choppy versions of jangle pop and dance rock, sometimes doomy, sometimes frantic. Little heard in America during their early-’80s heyday – the compilation Entomology is their first-ever U.S. album – they nonetheless commanded a small stateside following. Often borrowing the stately drone of Joy Division (“Sense of Guilt,” a tale of displacement that substitutes tortured shouts for a final verse) or the sprightly bounce of Postcard Records contemporaries Orange Juice (the witty “Sorry for Laughing,” which sends these regrets: “I’d help you if I could, but both my arms are made of wood”). This album collects 22 tracks from various singles, then-unreleased album sessions, a completed and issued LP and the group’s last Peel Session before their split.

this album is great. not many ppl kno about this band. but if u like franz...u'll luv this band. Josef K has been described as "the basic blueprint for the Franz sound."

This is a real solid band I would suggest buying this album if you are into bands like Swan Lake, Wolf parade, Clap your Hands say Yeah, and guys like M.ward they are right up there...

sorry bill, none of those bands sound like Josef K! JK definitely stands out with their own unique musical sound. I enjoyed some of the new version songs etomology has to offer but, I do enjoy the older tracks better. I highly recommend The Only Fun In Town, great album! Josef K owns

Future Exploited member Gary McCormack came and went as the bassist, with the trio eventually renaming itself TV Art. David Weddell eventually filled the gap, with the band frequently playing in and around their town. By the end of 1979's summer, they had recorded...
