Duets

Duets

Issued days before her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Duets is, as the title reveals, a compilation of various duets recorded throughout Linda Ronstadt’s long career. A previously unreleased version of “Pretty Bird” with Laurie Lewis is the one true rarity, with much of the collection focusing on the latter part of Ronstadt’s career. She has won 12 GRAMMY® Awards, two Academy of Country Music Awards, and one Emmy. Several of those GRAMMY-winning tracks are here, such as her 1976 cover of Hank Williams’ “I Can’t Help It (If I’m Still in Love with You)” with Emmylou Harris, her 1986 performance of “Somewhere Out There” with James Ingram for the soundtrack to An American Tail, and “Don’t Know Much” and “All My Life” with Aaron Neville from Ronstadt’s triple-platinum 1989 album, Cry Like a Rainstorm, Howl Like the Wind. Three cuts here are from her 2006 album Adieu False Heart with Cajun music singer Ann Savoy. Best of all may be her 1976 duet with The Eagles’ Don Henley on Warren Zevon’s “Hasten Down the Wind.”
