iTunes Review

The Best of Kansas draws upon the band’s work from their mid-‘70s heyday through their early ‘80s period. Steve Walsh’s clear-toned vocals lend these tracks a heroic quality, while his keyboard touch adds neo-classical embellishments. Also crucial to the Kansas sound is Robbie Steinhardt’s deft violin work and Kerry Livgren’s strategic guitar crunch.

This CD is amazing! but why is it with Journey?

I bought this cd at best buy and loved it. I went to look at the track list of Journey's greatest hits and didn't expect to see it. Even still...I saw these guys live and they were awesome!!! Get this cd not just for Carry On Wayward Son and Dust In The Wind; FIght Fire With Fire, Songs For America, and Point Of Know Return can compare. Even the songs I did not mention are awesome.

Where is Perfect Lover?

I remember getting the cassette when I was a teen and there was a bonus track titled "Perfect Lover" with Elefonte singing lead. That aside this is a great way to get introduced to one of the best rock bands of the 70's. If you like Styx, Journey, Heart and the like, this is an essential buy. If anyone knows where I can get that missing single, please post.

Kansas is awesome...

Kansas shouldn't be compared to Journey. Journey is better at their style of music, and Kansas is better at their's, which has a more classical music feeling. Song for America is a great song to cruise on the highway with. The Pinnacle sounds just grand, with a neat bit of laser noises around 5 minutes into the song.

Fusing the complexity of British prog rock with an American heartland sound representative of their name, Kansas were among the most popular bands of the late '70s, with many of their hits becoming staples of AOR radio playlists. Formed in Topeka in 1970, the founding members of the group -- guitarist Kerry Livgren, bassist Dave Hope, and drummer Phil Ehart -- first played together while in high school; with the 1971 addition of classically trained violinist Robbie Steinhardt, they changed their...
