Five Stars If It Weren't So Thin

This collection boasts only 28 tracks and leaves plenty, and I mean plenty, of room for additonal tracks. The second disc's last two tracks jumps from 1982 to the Pet Shop Boys duet "What Have I Done To Deserve This" released in 1987. The latter track is the only track on this collection not recorded for Universal records. If EMI allowed Universal access to Dusty's recordings for that label, surely a track from Dusty's 1990 Pet Shop Boys produced "Reputation" could have been included. Thin as this collection is, it does have the best mastering of these titles to date and since Dusty's awesome "Simply Dusty" boxed set will never be released stateside, this collection will have to do.

You can listen until you are 100 yrs old and there will never be another voice that comes close to DUSTY’S. She has gone from legendary to iconic. Someone who lived enough life fortunately or unfortunately for 3 people and suffered the consequences.
But she left a rich catalogue with not one flat, sharp or weak note except for one ill advised recording with a greedy seedy producer and record company that could not be trusted. They released her master with her work vocal...Even then her vocal is far superior to the song writer’s (Donna Summer) recording.
Check out her position in rollingstone’s best female vocalists and the best female albums of all time. She is #2 (Dusty In Memphis) after an Aretha album and #3 is Joni Mitchell’s Blue.
If you want ear candy and a mood go get the Dusty In Memphis cd. The bonus one has many extras.

Britain's greatest pop diva, Dusty Springfield was also the finest white soul singer of her era, a performer of remarkable emotional resonance whose body of work spans the decades and their attendant musical transformations with a consistency and purity unmatched by any of her contemporaries; though a camp icon of glamorous excess in her towering beehive hairdo and panda-eye black mascara, the sultry intimacy and heartbreaking urgency of Springfield's voice transcended image and fashion, embracing...
