Famous For It's Cover

More people are familiar with this album's artwork than with it's music, thanks to the character who saves the world, along with his grandmother, wearing it on his t-shirt throughout Tim Burton's movie "Mars Attacks!" Which is a shame. If I were to pick one album to represent the best of Alien Sex Fiend, then I'd choose this one, even over their singles collections. It seems to me that this album expressed the zeitgeist to goth fans in the same manner that "Sgt. Pepper's" did for hippies. A series of impressionistic musical landscapes, it represents a sense of smoldering catharic rage. It is not for the feint of heart. The mixing is impeccable, weaving a soft texture out of seemingly unbending materials. The lyrics are, as is the case with The Stooges and The Ramones, deceptively simple, underscored by intelligent conceptulization. There are two masterpieces on the album, "She's A Killer," perhaps the most chilling and frightening song ever made, and "Breakdown & Cry," which gives resilient stength to a despairing situation. This US version also contains "Boneshaker Baby," a wild and wooly rockabilly romp. Note: the original versions of the "Dead & Buried" / "Attack" single are, in my estimation, far superior to the rerecorded versions on this album, but these versions are great in their own right. These versions show that Alien Sex Fiend was never content to rest on their own laurels.

haha why hasn't anyone written a review?? this CD is amazing!!!

...ok..i geuss for an Alien Sex Fiend album

the music with this band i like, but the voice is so and so, i geuss this band kind of established a sort of movement. by listening to other bands who kind of took on thier sound. i cant really name any, but there out there. THE FREEZE from boston are nothing like this band but they did use the same kind of themes such as thaughts on sex and violence and peculiar people. but in all i actually kind of like this album because the cover art is sick and the songs "shes a killer" and "dead and re buried" are good. acid bath is way better than thier other stuff like "here c*m germs" if you get an ASF album get this!!!

Formed: 1982 in London, England

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s

A product of Britain's early-'80s Batcave goth punk movement, the North London-based Alien Sex Fiend were led by the eccentric Nick Wade, better known as the macabre Nik Fiend. A staple of the London scene as a member of such relatively obscure groups as the Earwigs and Mr. & Mrs. Demeanour, he made his recording debut under the name Demon Preacher; several other short-lived projects followed before he formed Alien Sex Fiend in 1982 with wife and synth player Christine (aka Mrs. Fiend), guitarist...
