Album Review

Much more low-key than most people expected, Let Go proves that the Phelps were the smarts behind the HeadHunters. The title cut was a breezy single that recalled Buddy Holly, and elsewhere on the album, the Phelps made judicious use of Southern boogie ("Were You Really Livin'") and strings ("What Goes Around"). Not a perfect album, and not as good as the HeadHunters at their peak, but Let Go still contains some mighty nice listening.

A Good Listen

Let Go is the first album by Brothers Phelps and has some hidden gems on it. Favorite song has to be Eagle Over Angel, followed up by Let Go, Were You Really Livin' and Playin' House. The Brothers Phelps were part of the Kentucky Headhunters but don't expect this album to follow in the Headhunters path.
