Stunningly beautiful!

Unlike many more plodding versions of this magnificent oratorio, James Levine conducts an orchestra that is light in spirit and divine in delivery! The choir is vocally superb and agile, able to go from pianissimo to fortissimo in the blink of and eye and back again. Kathleen Battle is at the height of her vocal abilities and her delivery is heavenly. This is such a divine piece of music and James Levine has a vision of it that transcends all others. I heard this again after many years, as the introduction to an episode of the PBS show "Endeavor" about the young Inspector Morse, and just had to find the best of all to add to my itunes collection. This is still the one!
