Amazing Score! One of the Greatest!

Of the many film scores that I have listened to and purchased over the years, this is definitely one of the very best that I've ever heard. Its themes, orchestration, and instrumentation are so classic that it has stood the test of time and, in my opinion, rivals the best scores of this century and the last as one of the greatest of all time.

This is excellent. I have been waiting for this album for a long time. I wish that I tunes would also come out withe movie starring Charlton Heston.

Finally one of the greatest film scores in history has been recorded and released in its entirety, including many cues senselessly cut when the film was released. Many Rosza afficcianados have been disappointed by the lack of a complete score of EL CID, which, as a score stands quite well in comparison with his masterpiece BEN-HUR which has been available for some time now. The bonus for many of us is that the recording was done by the City of Prague Philharmonic, rapidly becoming among the premiere orchestras recording near-faithful film scores using today's recording techniques. The quality of the arrangements and the sound are absolutely breathtaking. Among the more muscular scores of the early 60s (THE ALAMO by Tiomkin and SPARTACUS by Alex North) this is a recording to absolutely wallow in. I have two other massive collections by this orchestra (EPICS and MAGNIFICENT WESTERNS) and they have never disappointed! As an aside one can only hope they will record the complete score of SPARTACUS, which would make an excellent companion for those of us who love the scores of the early 60s. Very highly recommended.
