Responsible Artistry

I applaud this album for several reasons 1. It's good music 2. It's giving our youth knowledge 3. It's responsible artistry 4. Enoch is a genuinely cool dude 5. If you've ever seen him live you know that his energy level is thru the roof and it draws you into the moment with him... 5 Mics

I LOOOOVVVVEEEE this album! One of it's best attributes is how family friendly it is, addressing topics my Baby Goddesses discuss on the daily. My personal favorite "Love" track on this album is Distant Luva, favorite dance/workout track is Keep it HipHop! Do yourself(and your spirit) a favor and cop this album today!

Not really sure...

Enoch 7th Prophet is definitely a conscious rapper. This album has no shortage of references to Ja, prayer, and a campaign for "mental salvation". However, after listening to this album about 5 times, it's safe to say I have no idea what any of it means. The flow is choppy. The lyrics seem extremely random. Actually, it is questionable if the approach to recording was just a bunch of freestyles and free-flowing "streams of consciousness." Maybe it's supposed to sound good because of the beats. On a positive note, the tracks seem hand-selected and well-chosen. Sampling Maxwell's "Bad Habits" on Enoch's "Distant Luva" joint is creative and put a smile on my face... but the lyrics. Oh, but the lyrics... Were they supposed to have a point??

It's easy to imagine him saying, "They just don't understand what I'm saying. They aren't LISTENING!" And if he did, he would be right. He may have a message but until there is more discipline evident in his lyrical skills, I, and more than likely a lot of other music lovers, will have to pass on this one.
