An Amazingly Emotional End for Hutchence

As an INXS fan, I was tempted to enjoy "Bang the Drum" (the song, not so much the entire EP) and I definitely feel satisfied. The title song is so full of emotion that Hutchence's death is even more upsetting. The best way to understand the song is to search out the lyrics because, as usual with INXS, much of the words are blended together. When you realize the suicidal nature of the song, it resonates significantly greater. A fantastic song, musically and lyrically, and just another reminder of the life that Hutchence brought to INXS. The rest of the album is a small treat, as it's nice to hear their live sound. Regretfully, I don't care for "Let it Ride".

If I could sing like mike it would be Elegantly Wasted in Aspen

If I ever had a chance for one day to be Michael Hutchence and have his incredible voice, also to be able to surrender to music and give a performance of elegant mystique, to put out the level of energy and sophistication, I would want it to be Elegantly Wasted in Aspen Colorado at the House of Blues.

bittersweet. i love every word that ever came out of this man. he is missed.

Ultimately, these were the very things that made INXS into international superstars in the late '80s. By that time, the group had harnessed its hard rock, dance, and new wave influences into a sleek, stylish groove...
