iTunes Review

Best known for his breakout work with the North Carolina group Little Brother, 9th Wonder has successfully transitioned from underground favorite to mainstream beatmaker to the stars (Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, etc.), and he continues to churn out some of the game’s most soulful hip-hop productions. After two quality compilation-style albums (The Dream Merchant Vols. 1 & 2), 9th returns with the heavily anticipated third round. The Wonder Years showcases most of the artists on his label, as well as some of his favorite emcees from both coasts. Wu-Tang is represented by both Raekwon ("No Pretending" with Big Remo) and Masta Killa ("Loyalty" featuring Halo). Three generations of Golden State VIPs (Warren G, MURS, and Kendrick Lamar) get busy on "Enjoy (West Coastin')," his old LB homie Phonte appears on "Band Practice Pt. 2" and "One Night," and futuristic songstress Erykah Badu goes off on "20 Feet Tall (Remix)." Exceptional beats and quality rhymes dominate, with great performances from Blu, Skyzoo, Mac Miller, Tanya Morgan, Holly Weerd, Talib Kweli, and more.

9th wonder = Hip Hop

Get it

9th Wonder is soo underrated as a producer.

Dope album

If you like dope rhymes over nice soul sampled beats (especially w/ a twist of jazzy elements/saxaphone , courtesy of terrace martin) than u should seriously check this album out. Best tracks are enjoy, One night, band practice pt.2 and hearing the melody.

(off topic) and to all the ppl who are calling 9th wonder a hater when he gave his opinion on watch the throne, JUST STOP! He didnt hate on the album, he just said it wasnt for him and made some valid points on why he didnt like it. He even said that he can rock w/ new day & the joy off that album. But because he gave an opinion on the album and said he it wasnt for him and explained why, that makes him a hater? that is dumb as hell & completely immature. I swear the word hater gets tossed around so loosely that its lost its real meaning. But hey, you guys are right, your're not allowed to have a different opinion anymore cause if u do "your a hater" smh *end rant*

Growing up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the boy who would become producer 9th Wonder, Pat Douthit, performed in the school band and also played keyboards at home. Initially, while a student at North Carolina Central University, Douthit planned on saving his money for the producer's favorite tool, the MPC, but after a friend showed him that he could make the beats he wanted on a computer, he decided to use that instead. In 1998 he met classmates and future bandmates Phonte and Big Pooh, and with...
