Customer Reviews

Awesome... Just awesome.

I never write reviews, but this deserves one.
It's different than most musicians out there and that's what drew me to them. I'm all for different. I definitely recommend this album. I know I'm gonna listen to it for a while!! Give it a listen, you won't regret it!!!!!

Shoegaze at its best!!

Brilliant full length debut, and a breath of fresh air

What do you get when you combine arpeggiated riffs, 80's drum machine beats, beautiful ethereal vocals, shoegaze styling, and non-western tuning and harmonics? Well, Trailer Trash Tracys got something that works to create one of the most unique and interesting albums of early 2012. Pitchfork reviewed this album and labeled it as a disappointment; I think they are WAY off the mark. Maybe it wasn't what they were expecting? Well, I don't think this album was what anyone was expecting. This album is a true original, a brilliant full-length debut; there's not a song on it that I would ever mistake for another artist.

OK, so it's original, but is it actually good listening? Definitely YES. New experimental works are often lacking in coherence. Not "Ester". This album is full of entrancing melodies and richly textured sounds that reward repeated listens (especially with good headphones).

It's great to know that in a world where the masses constantly reward musicians that put out old wine in new flasks, at least some musicians are still trying to push the boundaries. If you think you know what indie music is "supposed to" sound like, you probably won't like this album. But if you are looking for something new, buy it and enjoy.

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '00s, '10s

London's Trailer Trash Tracys fashion a shoegaze-inspired sound that focuses on cavernous reverb and Suzanne Aztoria's deadpan vocals instead of massive walls of guitar effects. Gothenburg-born Aztoria and guitarist Jimmy Lee make up the group's core duo; the pair had been in another band together previously, but felt the approach was too manufactured and struck out on their own. They connected with bassist Adam Jaffrey and drummer Dayo James via mutual friends, and began playing live shows in February...
