Album Review

A good live album, but not quite the worthy successor to the Fillmore shows in their various forms — the band is in form throughout this more than one-hour distillation of shows in Boston and New York from their 1992 tour, covering old and new repertory, but there are no surprises. The song lineup wastes some opportunities, however, and there isn't any serious new ground covered, which may be par for the course for a band in its 22nd year. On the up side, the crispness of the recording helps one fully appreciate the power and articulation of the playing by everyone, but especially Dickey Betts and Warren Haynes.

Great Live Band

Dicky Betts and Warren Haynes truly are way way way better live than on a studio track, this album is evidence. This is one of my all-time favorite bands and I have had the privilidge of seeing them twice, both times with Derek Trucks who is an amazing guitarist but won't be able to bring to the band what Dicky Betts did. GO SEE THIS BAND LIVE NOW!

Really an out of this world performance.

This version of "Blue Sky" has given me chills and still does if I go without hearing it for six months or so. They were on fire during this period. The Allmans mkII. Gregg sounds amazing, while older still able to hit every note. Dickey must have found inspiration in Warren's playing because he shreds on this album! Warren's tone is sick. Really download Blue Sky to see what I mean, one of my favorite solos ever. I love the part when during the solo when he has a hard time grabbing the slide from his pocket and there is a cool 2 seconds there. It is just played beautifully. BLUE SKY BLUE SKY BLUE SKY BLUE SKY BLUE SKY BLUE SKY BLUE SKY BLUE SKY BLUE SKY BLUE SKY I have been enjoying this album for years and I don't think you will be disappointed with the download.

Guitar gods!

The beauty of the Allman Brothers lies with their guitars. They have been blessed (sometimes tragically) with four of the greatest guitar players of all time. No matter the combination, they sound fabulous! In this case the duo of Dickey Betts and Warren Haynes brings new life to these AMB classics. The highlight is Blue Sky, where Dickey and Warren take a country song that was never one of my favorites and turn it into a dueling guitar classic! Well worth the price and the listen!
