EDITORS’ NOTES

Of the countless popsmiths who aspire to follow in Lorde's footsteps, Broods have a pretty good shot: the brother-sister duo of Caleb and Georgia Nott are also from New Zealand, and they share the "Royals" singer's producer, Joel Little. Comprised of tempestuous pop with electronic flourishes, their debut shows a resemblance to their countrywoman's music but distinguishes itself, too: the single "Bridges" pulses with alt-R&B wooziness, and "Four Walls" is futuristic quiet storm. With Georgia's layered vocals and the swirling synths throughout, Evergreen is a bumpy ride, throbbing with urgent energy, like Portishead by way of Destiny's Child.

Just splendid!

Whether it’s Georgia's heavenly voice, or Joel Little’s rhythmic beats - Broods has that diverse sound that can either sing you to sleep, or dance happily throughout the house. Caleb and Georgia are not a typical brother/sister pop duo, their sound is as closely iconic as Lorde’s (makes sense considering Little’s magical abilities on both). Although I am saddened to not see the track ‘Coattails' on this glorious masterpiece, I wish them the best of luck with these magnificent tracks.

To iTunes...

I pre ordered this the other night. At the very least I need the reduced price and credit for the 4 tracks I own. I kind of feel entitled to it. Thanks.

I Hope They Make It Big

I loved Broods' EP and can't wait for this to be released! Joel Little (produced Lorde's album as well) seems to have a knack for working with great young talent. Broods' music has meaning and depth to it, and if you liked Lorde's debut you should check out these guys too! Similar to Lorde, this duo doesn't make dumb pop music and I look forward to more from them and hope they make a name for themselves.
