A slice of real life....

It maybe a little too early to write a review on a record that just came out March 15th, but as it has already resonated through me and after seeing two live shows by Cindy in the last week, I feel inspired to do so. This is the 5th installment from a very gifted singer/ songwriter. She has built a very strong foundation on every record that has come thus far. In my opinion she is at her best musically and lyrically with "Every Rise And Fall".

This musical journey starts with the Phil Collins style drum beat of "Wonderful" by Chip Moreland to the upbeat pop biographical snap shot of "405". The mood then changes into the touching "Soul Quake", to the personal loss story of the bittersweet "Dear Joan". This record is as solid as it gets.

Cindy states in her liner notes that she made this record for herself, but as you pass it around and make it your own, you'll probably find it touches your soul as it did mine. It doesn't hurt she has a voice like a angel. See her in person if you get a chance and everything that comes from your IPod or CD from her will come alive, I promise.

A must have!!!

Another album in a journey of life. Every Rise and Fall is a must have in any music collection!

Every Rise and Fall

In the category of "singer songwriter" there is no more overlooked troubadour than CIndy Alexander. I've loved every release of hers and if I lived in LA I'd go to any show at which she's performing. Her songs are poised, purposeful, and provocative. They are raw and organic, and her voice is perfectly suited to the melancholia her songs evoke, just like Springsteen's or Jackson Browne's--or the original Linda Ronstadt balladeer releases.

This is likely her best album yet, every song a masterpiece, every note true. But then, I thought that of the previous four.

Bravo, Cindy. So glad you continue to battle the odds.
