iTunes Review

Despite releasing nearly a dozen albums under his own name, Randall Bramblett is known to many music fans as a multi-instrumentalist who appears on albums by Gregg Allman, Bonnie Bramlett, Elvin Bishop, Widespread Panic, and Gov't Mule. Yet, for those fans who took a chance on one of his solo flights, it becomes readily obvious why others have requested his participation and why he needs to make records on his own. The Bright Spots, his ninth studio album, was funded by his hardcore fans. And for them, Bramblett goes for broke. Seven tunes were recorded with his longtime band at the Georgia studio of drummer and co-producer Gerry Hansen, with the remaining five songs cut in Nashville with a smaller group. Basic tracks were recorded live with the bands to catch the natural language and groove between the seasoned musicians. It's the reason funky tunes such as "John the Baptist" and "Trying to Steal a Minute" levitate and why the ballads "My Darling One" and "Detox Bracelet" feel so overwhelmingly heartfelt and real.

Coolest 'album' I've heard in a long time.

With a smokey voice and a dirty guitars Bramlett serves up a very entertaining and moving set of tunes.

More Introspective

Seems to be Randall's most introspective or brooding effort. He offers revelations as opposed to catchy tunes.
