Reseña de álbum

A movie starring Sarah Silverman (that silver-tongued genius who makes other female comedians blush with modesty), Bob Odenkirk, and Brian Posehn sounds like a sure-fire thing, especially with some songs written by Liam Lynch, co-creator of the genius Sifl & Olly TV show that MTV so disgracefully canceled. But the truth is, Jesus Is Magic works best when it's just Sarah on-stage alone. The songs sometimes pale when compared with the potency of Silverman's standup delivery, and the soundtrack suffers from erratic shifts in tone and momentum throughout. Sometimes the jokes don't translate well without the visuals, and then there are other moments during Silverman's standup that are just downright raunchy and effective. If you've never heard her standup before, brace yourself. This is just as blue as humor can get without being downright awful and offensive merely for the sake of being offensive.

Good, good stuff.

You know, there are a LOT of people out there that will HATE this they did the movie it was based on. Why? Because, it is "offensive"... Why do I love it? Because after Pryor died, I did not believe *anyone* would *ever* do comedy like this again. The funniest bits are the "racist" ones...the setups are brilliant and, if you know what *funny* is, you understand that the jokes aren't the stereotypes, but about how utterly stupid stereotypes are in the first place. I could not stop laughing. If you're old enought to remember the "bluer" comics of days past, before people forgot how to laugh at the offensive and obsurd (Redd Foxx anyone? Richard Pryor? Lenny Bruce?) grab this. If you like your jokes "Leno-sanitized" then stay away. Far, far away.

Sarah: Did you ask Kimmel if these songs were funny? Cause they're not.

Why are there only 5 comedy "skits" on a comedy album? I've been waiting for a long time to hear Sarah Silverman's stand-up not a bunch of lame comedic songs. Why, why do talented comedians pick up a guitar and attempt to serenade us til we spit up? What will make them stop? Skip the music and check out her stand-up. That goes for this DVD as well as the album.

WWJD? He would BUY this NOW!!!!

For those of you who have not seen this Movie yet, go NOW. Granted Sarah's humour is not for everyone. However, it is never too late to become one of the chosen few who find Sarah to be hilarious. Buttons will be pushed. Squirm a little if needed, and sure, it may be offensive to a select few. But then again, Sarah is pants down the best female comedianne on the scene. Her performance in School of Rock (also recommended) was awesome! This is 30 times better.
