Another great addition to the Cherrelle iTunes Collection

It's about time that they have Cherrelle's albums: "Fragile," "High Priority," and "The Woman I Am" on iTunes, and of course "Affair." These albums have been unavailable on iTunes until now and fans can rest easy knowing Cherrelle's albums are now on iTunes!! iTunes, keep these albums up and don't take them down. They are amazing!!

Underrated Album by an Underrated Artist

I really loved this album when it was initially released over 20 years ago and am thrilled to see it and a number of other classic albums from the Tabu label (including Alexander O'Neal and S.O.S. Band) finally available on i-Tunes. I believe "Affair" is the best of Cherrelle's work with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. The first six cuts, which represented the first side of the album, are smoking: "Looks Aren't Everything" is classic Cherrelle and is essentially "You Look Good to Me" Part 2 , "Pick Me Up" is sparse but massively funky, "Discreet" is simply relentless ( I would have loved it if it had been 3 minutes longer), and "Affair" is a Jam and Lewis classic featuring artist and producers at their best (and yes, the 12 " version is ""must" listening). 'Happy That You're Happy With Me" and."What More Can I Do For You" are also very good uptempo cuts. Cherrelle slows things down on the remaining cuts, which as a whole are not quite as strong; however, there are three essential songs: the gorgeous number 1 hit "Everything I Miss at Home", ""Keep It Inside" (another classic duet with Alexander O'Neal), and "Crazy (For Loving You)". I consider "Affair" as one of Jam and Lewis' finest productions (along with Alexander O'Neal's "Hearsay" and Janet Jackson's "Rhythm Nation") and definitely worth purchasing!

"A High Priority"

I agree with the previous reviewer, Cherrelle deserves much credit for keeping the 80's alive and exciting -- she was no cookie cutter singer -- this was a serious concept album and if someone gets the chance to hear the smoking remix of "Affair" released to promote this collection -- please find a way to get it to iTunes, I would love to get my hands on it. It was A Jam and Lewis party-hopping mutha! Love and respect to this little lady and her contributions to 80's soul and real singing.

One of the stars of Clarence Avant's Tabu label, as well as an early beneficiary of producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Cherrelle was born Cheryl Norton in 1958 in Los Angeles, California. After her family established a summertime residence in Detroit, Michigan, she met bassist/singer Michael Henderson, who had her appear on "One to One," the closing song on his 1978 album In the Night-Time. Norton subsequently went on tour with Henderson and Luther Vandross. Early the following decade, Norton...
