Customer Reviews

I'd been waiting on this record for months, then the release date hits. Oops, that was the European release. A month later, us North Americans are finally treated. They've actually had the record in it's entirety on their myspace for a while, which only served to make me anticipate this even more. Anyway, here's my take. This is the Eluveitie we heard on Slania, (not saying Evocation was bad) as we're back to metal here. It's heavy, it's catchy and I think they did more with the traditional instruments this time around. Think Slania for the usual metal stylings, but more Evocation for the celtic stuff. If you liked the other records, you will dig this. It might not be as heavy as the old stuff, but it's still got plenty of punch and the greater emphasis on the traditional instruments and songwriting make this a balanced and complete record. Their best yet.

A Return to What Eluveitie Does Best

As much as I truly enjoyed Evocation I, what makes me love this band so much is their seamless and masterful transitioning from folk medley to metal assault and the overlapping and blending of the two. There is not a single song on this album that does not give me the conflicting desires to headbang and break out in a pagan folk dance simultaneously.

I, too, was dismayed when I ralized that I would be forced to wait another 3 weeks for the North American release, but the wait was more than worth it. Eluveitie makes a triumphant return to what they do best on Everything Remains: an immaculate blend of folk and metal. With moving and energizing songs, and even a surprise harsh vocal from one of the girls, this is definitely a must-have album.

My favorites:
1. The Essence of Ashes
2. Thousandfold
3. Quoth the Raven
4. Sempiternal Embers

Artistic Genius

Eluveitie blends metal and folk music so damn well. Every song is something completely unique in itself, and the musical aspects of each song is equally as great. I hadn't been this excited for an album since Behemoth's album last August, but honestly, I was more excited for this one. This is well work the wait.
