iTunes Review

Evolutionary represents War’s first studio album of new material since 1994’s Peace Sign. Since 1994, four of War’s original five members formed The Lowrider Band, leaving just lead singer/multi-instrumentalist Lonnie Jordan and coproducer and cowriter Jerry Goldstein within the War ranks. Studio musicians were called to fill in the gaps and keep War on track, even if it's really the Lonnie Jordan project at this point. The album’s first single, “That L.A. Sunshine,” features USC's Trojan Marching Band adding brass and L.A. Fats throwing in a guest rap. (A bonus version featuring Cheech & Chong ends the official album.) “Mamacita” follows, with the Tower of Power horns and Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh joining the funk. Interestingly, this album also includes a 10-track collection of War’s greatest hits, including the original versions of “Slipping into Darkness,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends,” and “Low Rider.”

MISSING SOMETHING

LETS GET ONE THING CLEAR - THIS IS NOT THE BAND - WAR ! THIS SHOULD BE CALLED - THE LONNIE JORDAN BAND !!
ALTHOUGH I'LL GIVE A GRADE OF 5 STARS FOR EFFORT , THE ALBUM IS COMPLETELY MISSING SOMETHING.
YOU READY ????? ----
ITS MISSING THE OTHER SURVIVING MEMBERS OF THE ORIGINAL BAND !!!!
I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW BANDS SPLIT UP and ITS ALWAYS ONE ORIGINAL MEMBER THAT STAYS WITH THE BANDS NAME WHEN WE CLEARY KNOW THAT IT ISNT THE BAND. ( ** see WAR , Guns N Roses or KISS to name a few ). These examples of established Bands got their success because of the people in the band. I WISH WAR - THE REAL BAND WOULD PUT ASIDE THIER DIFFERENCES AND PLAY ONE SHOW TOGETHER !!! I THINK EVERY FAN IN AMERICA WOULD WANT TO SEE THAT !!!!!! LONNIE , YOU CANT REPLACE LEGENDS !!! IF IT AINT THE REAL WAR BAND , IT AINT WAR !!! Please , FOR YOUR FANS , GET IT TOGETHER AND PLAY A SHOW FOR YOUR FANS !!!!! PLEASE !!!!! YOUR SOUND IS ICONIC AMERICAN MUSIC !!!!!! WHY ARENT THEY IN THE ROCK N ROLL FAME ??????

This is not the real War

This is by FAR the saddest release by "WAR" in its glorious history. If this doesn't get Lonnie Jordan to wake up and I can't imagine what might. Time for Lonnie to bail on Goldstein and reunite with the "Lowrider Band", who with Jordan would constitute the real War.

New Album

Great new songs, War is back !!!

Biography

Genre: R&B/Soul

Years Active: '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

One of the most popular funk groups of the '70s, War were also one of the most eclectic, freely melding soul, Latin, jazz, blues, reggae, and rock influences into an effortlessly funky whole. Although War's lyrics were sometimes political in nature (in keeping with their racially integrated lineup), their music almost always had a sunny, laid-back vibe emblematic of their Southern California roots. War kept the groove loose, and they were given over to extended jamming; in fact, many of their studio...
