Editors’ Notes

A member of the longstanding Tunnel Rats crew, Propaganda is a Christian rapper who's been around for some time now. Down with the Humble Beast label, he dropped the well-received, partly spoken-word album Art Ambidextrous with Odd Thomas last year. He returns here with Excellent, a 12-track collection of likeable joints that focus mostly on his faith, his family, and the ups and downs of everyday life. On the spooky-sounding opening number, "Don't Listen to Me," he touches on pyramids and aliens before telling us: "I really love my wife, my daughter, and mangoes." Countrified acoustic guitars and vocals from Lee Green liven up "Redefine Cutter," while Theory Hazit makes an appearance on the upbeat head-nodder "Conquer" and Sho Baraka joins the fray on the moody race-and-class examination "I Ain't Got an Answer." A far cry from the stereotypical steez that seems to dominate hip-hop, Propaganda avoids vapid party rap and tired gangster clichés, serving up thinking man's music: decidedly left of center but still funky.

Flawless Victory

This album excels Beyond statistical rating systems..... i need a moment...

NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE!!!!! First full-on Prop album with a tight Beautiful Eulogy coming together to produce it. SO SICK!! BOOOM!!! you know HumbleBeast just mind in they own business making everything well and excellent to do justice to the life of Jesus. They go all out and give Him their all. Sure we get to listen to it, but this is for the Lord Jesus and what He is deserving of. An audience of one. I wish all Hip Hop out there was doing ti as EXCELLENTLY as you guys. Thank you.

Get that Hip Hop which refuses to compromise!

I really hope that you do get more mainstream attention Propaganda. I'm sick and tired of 'empty' hip hop gaining most of the attention. I'm not saying I hate the artists themselves, that all of their songs are totally bad, or that they aren't talented. Many of them are extremely talented. I'm just saying that I'm tired of the subject matter that they rap about in the vast majority of their songs. The content in a vast majority of those songs from those artists also sound superficial, a lot of it ends being a bunch of acting. Propaganda, I truly appreciate how you rap truth and how you refuse to compromise. You are truly talented. Although I love some mainstream sounds within the hip hop genre I also love how this album (basing on the samples since the album hasn't been released yet as I write this), sounds different than what's popular out there right now. I love and appreciate that and thanks to Humble Beast for their production on this album. Humble Beast and Propaganda, thank you so much for putting this album together. Thank you also to the guest artists who appeared on this album.
One note: I gave this album 4 stars as of now since I don't entirely feel the mixing on some parts of the song "Redefine Cutter." I love everything else about the song however, it is unique and it grabs me.
