Whether stitching chillwave and reggaetón together on “000000” or combining trap and R&B on “Exotica,” the Peruvian singer-songwriter uses his rhythmic gifts to push the genre forward. “Déjalo” contemplates the world through a haze of smoked beats, adding a little history (“Running through Tulum, makin’ numbers like I’m Mayan” is a particularly inspired line). “Type” and “Pump Fake” are party tracks—the former a reggaetón banger, the latter a “shoot your shot” basketball metaphor with simmering trap beats and a vicious crossover hook.
