The best Christian rock album EVER?!?

Yep, that's what I think. The reason? I played my cassette version for a guy in my church late last year and he thought it was brand new! "Extraordinary" is truly that. It stands the test of time. Musically and lyrically, it was so far ahead of its time for Christian music, everyone else still hasn't caught up. Even 'best ever' albums like "Jesus Freak" have dated elements to them; parts that, with age, seem like cliches. Not "Extraordinary". Oran, Dan and the boys created an album that very few bought, but should go in the time capsule. "Preacher's Kid" and "Black Ice" are intense modern rockers. "Violet" could play on most radio stations today. They won a stinking Dove award for "Scream" which, while you have to be ready for it, is a memorable cut also. Even the bands lighter moments - "Bald women...should've been smarter" from "Women of Zion" and the two covers from Norman and Dylan - show maturity and a self-effacing humor. I saw these guys live in 1996, playing at a small Christian coffee house. The best live show I've ever seen. And not just because I was ten feet from Oran, the lead guitar player. Dan Fritz was a maniac that night; a lead singer with awesome chops and majestic stage presence. Dan announced during the show they had signed a secular deal with MCA. I was pumped. These guys were going to be huge! Then, the next thing I know, the secular album never happens, they release a crappy second album on Gotee (complete with horrible re-dos of "Body Be" and "Preacher's Kid") and POOF! they vanished. Buy this! Transport yourself back to the mid 90's and think about what might have been. God had a purpose in not letting these guys get big. Only He knows what it was. But I'll just enjoy my copy of "Extraordinary". You should, too...

Best Christian Rock band Ever!

One of the first Christian rock albums I ever bought and I was instantly hooked. Wish these guys would of stayed around because they had so much potential. This is still a hit album to this day. Rock on Jonny Q. Public!

Thanks Johnny Q

THIS is REAL Christian music! I'm a fan of Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Nirvana, and now Johnny Q Public. My cousins let me borrow this on cassette last year. I was instantly hooked. Former members of Johnny Q Public, wherever you all are, thanks for such a killer album. Believe it or not but some teens still love good music!
