Back to what made them

I've been listening to Staind for years now, and after the disappointment known as "Illusions of Progress", I'm very happy to say that this album doesn't disappoint. It retains all of the qualities of their first official album, while mixing in the melodies of 'Break the Cycle', and 'Chapter V'. My favorites so far would have to be 'Now', 'The Bottom', and 'Wannabe', but the whole album is definitely worth buying, whether you're a Staind fan or not.

Is this their best album? I don't think so, but I'm saying this from a not-so-hardcore-fan perspective. That title, to me, would have to either go to Break the Cycle or 14 Shades of Gray. None the less, this is definitely worth while if you've been wanting new material from this amazing group.

Going out with a bang

Staind has confirmed that this is the last album they'll make together, and I'm glad they chose to rediscover their roots, circa the first album, and bring back a side of them I thought we'd lost. They sound heavier than ever.

9 out of 10 stars for sure.

Down Right

Amazing, completely aggressive, yet it carries its melodic and soothing moments with songs like Something to Remind You which is just about heart-breaking to listen to. Other songs such as Eyes in the opening of the album unlease a furry of sounds and anger into the listener, honestly its hard to decal this album seeing as its unbelievable in all ways. Wannabe was a fun and funny mix between rap, rock and heavy metal, by the way.

It has been said that first impressions last a lifetime. Luckily for Staind, some only last for about 45 minutes. After a volatile disagreement with Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst over some of Staind's early cover art, it seemed their big break had walked out the door. Fortunately, by the time Durst had witnessed Staind's intense live show, he was ready to exchange phone numbers. Staind's story began in the New England area when vocalist Aaron Lewis and guitarist Mike Mushok met at a Christmas party...
