13 Songs, 52 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

A DJ Khaled beat is the musical equivalent of a multi-million-dollar Miami mansion. Awe-inspiring and ostentatious, these palaces can accommodate hundreds of guests at a time, and maybe that’s what accounts for Khaled’s penchant for posse cuts. “Out Here Grindin’” and “Final Warning” are structured for maximum drama, so that each rapper’s appearance (it is not uncommon for six or eight to share one song) propels the song forward with a new burst of energy, like an injection of nitro into a race car. As much as Khaled enjoys working with an ensemble cast, the results are riveting when he gives a song over to a single rapper. On “I’m On” Nas’ introspective flow grips the track like Spiderman to a skyscraper, while Game brings his trademark emotion to the faintly bluesy stomp of “Red Light.” Every song on We Global puts a premium on fortitude and melodrama, and while similar-minded tracks usually collapse under their own weight, DJ Khaled is one of the few producers who can actually deliver on his astronomical aspirations.

DJ Khaled's sequel to the sophomore "We The Best" is decent. Most tracks on the album are average to say the least. Lyrically, this album is average. The lyrics on the album are pretty good, but they could be better. DJ Khaled still didn't contribute to any of the lyrics, which is why he uses guest stars, to make his lyrics better. Production is usually tight, but on some tracks production can lack. Most guest stars on the album do a really fine job. The ones like Akon, Nas, The Game, Kanye West, and Bun B really stick out. So basically the album is pretty average, I'm sort of intrusted in the next DJ Khaled, but I hope he does more to his lyrics.

Nice, BUT DOES DJ DO ANYTHING??

This is a great album. I love the songs. - If it were Rick Ross' album! or T-Pain's! or Lil Wayne's! But DJ Khaled does NOTHING. aside from shouting "we tha best", or "I'm goin in!" or saying his own name, his songs are sung by the people he features. Also, he needs some solo songs! 12 of his 13 songs feature someone else. Finally, he often features too many people... For example, Out Here Grindin' features 6 people, and some of the DJ's other songs such as the single I'm So Hood features 9 people!! Unbelieveable! So its good music..... but the DJ needs more independance. Jeez.
