EDITORS’ NOTES

Marking 20 years of the London dance institution fabric—and quickly filling the void left by the long-running fabric and FABRICLIVE mix series, decommissioned in late 2018—UK producer/DJ Bonobo, a.k.a. Simon Green, launches the club’s new Presents anthology. fabric is promising this quarterly series will draw from an even broader musical sphere, and it kicks off with a mix composed of tracks that fuse warm dance-floor grooves with worldly musical adventure. Green is, of course, a bit of an expert on that sort of thing, and his own new track “Ibrik” is one of the standout moments here, blending a busy rhythm and rising melody with yearning echoes of Middle Eastern folk music. Ambient and deep house standards by John Beltran and Âme, respectively, plus genre-meshing new cuts from Throwing Snow and Jordan Rakei’s Dan Kye alias help maintain that fine balance between invention and accessibility throughout.
