Famous - EP Mason Ramsey
EDITORS’ NOTES
Of all the musical trends that could have been resurrected in 2018, yodeling was probably the least likely. But when 11-year-old Mason Ramsey went viral covering Hank Williams’ 1949 hit “Lovesick Blues” in an Illinois Walmart, a meme was born—and so was a star. Following his debut single, the charming “Famous,” comes this six-track EP, including a full studio rendition of the tune that garnered the Walmart Yodeling Kid his renown, alongside two other classics from Williams’ early-’50s catalog, “Jambalaya (On the Bayou)” and “I Saw the Light.” The two originals—country stomper “The Way I See It” and honky-tonk anthem “Yo Da Lady Who”—prove that Ramsey can do more than merely imitate his idol.
