iTunes Review

This album is Mastered for iTunes. Ever since their inception, Heart have balanced between folk-druid-acoustic numbers and rattling hard rockers. Their obvious debts to Led Zeppelin have been openly acknowledged (listen to levee-breaking crunch of "Mashallah") and Ann Wilson's fearless vocal pipes enable Heart to be heard over the competition at every turn. Working with producer/ programmer Ben Mink, who also manned controls for their previous studio album, Red Velvet Car, the Wilson sisters deliver on their reputation. Tracks such as "Rock Deep (Vancouver)" and "Walkin' Good," with special guest Sarah McLachlan, explore their homespun charm, while the technologically advanced "Million Miles" allows Ann to push forth to the top of her range for wrenching drama. Ann and Nancy's harmonies turn "Pennsylvania" from an ethereal ballad into a heavenly choir piece. "Corduroy Road" ends things with another nod to Zeppelin, with its "Kashmir" blend of tension and release.

HEART ROCKS!

For their 14th album (Nearly 40 years of rock!!) the Wilson sisters release a rockin album with some great material! This one has a little bit of something for everyone! Want the harder rocking songs? Check out the title track, "Mashallah" and "59 Crunch"! The song "Walking Good" is the album's best folksy number, always a strength for the band, and benefits from the voice of Sarah McLachlan, who blends so perfectly with the Wilsons that one might think she was their long lost sister! "Skin and Bones" is a blues-funk driven, rock number that sounds like it could have come from the albums "Little Queen" or "Dog and Butterfly". It is a joy to listen to and a song that begs for a replay after it is finished! The song "Million Miles" is a contemporary rocker and juxtaposes the group with the new decade of music. All in all, this is an EXCELLENT album and a return to the Heart that has rocked America for years! Check it out!

Wilson Sisters still got it!!

Sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson are the creative spark behind Heart, a hard rock group who initially found success in the mid-'70s only to reach greater heights after engineering a major comeback a decade later. The daughters of a Marine Corps captain, Ann (born June 19, 1950) and Nancy (born March 16, 1954) grew up in both Southern California and Taiwan before the Wilson family settled in Seattle, Washington. Throughout their formative years, both were interested in folk and pop music; while Ann never...
